Guest killawattz Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 hi, i'm interested in gettinga vox in the next week to replace my cell phone, but the new ipod touches just came out and i was interested in that too, seeing how it has all of the functions i need (except the phone). and i was wondering, when browsing the internet on the vox via wifi, do i get the "mobile" pages of the websites, or would i be able to view the pages as they are intended to be viewed? does it have anything to do with the browser i use (ie vs. opera)? how would i be able to zoom in on a page and click a link, or scroll up/down/right/left? thanks in advance
Guest Samsonite Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 (edited) whether surfing over a WiFi connection or over the phones GPRS, the browser will display the same page type. Many websites have 'parallel' sites that will detect a mobile based browser and display pages more suited to that screen size but you almost always can click somewhere the site/page to display the 'full' desktop version. you can see 'full' desktop style pages if you want to, but it is a bit of a pain scrolling around so i tend to let the browser on the phone put everything in a single column. this means at least you're only going up and down but that messes with formatting of image and layouts etc. you can increase text size on the Vox's built in IE but i dont know of anything giving a zoom function. as for clicking links and things, you don't have multiple pages open (does anyone know a tabbed browser for Smartphones?) so navigating is back, back, back etc but its rare to find some functionality actually being lost thru viewing on a mobile. (don't ask about a mobile Modaco tho... ;) ) Edited September 7, 2007 by Samsonite
