Categories in std calendar app

Is there a way to add the categories option to the standard WM6 calendar when creating appointments on the smartphone?

I know there's 3rd part apps (Agenda, Papyrus etc..) but these are over complex for my needs. All that's required is already in-place except the categories.

Your thoughts & help appreciated.
