Guest Pointer Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 I've just switched to an E650 smartphone on Orange running Windows Mobile 6. I previously had a Blackberry Pearl but was frustrated at having to double handle filing and deleting emails without an Enterprise Server. I've set up 2 POP3 accounts on my phone. Can anyone please advise how I can file emails received into these accounts to my Mobile Outlook folders then sync to my desktop ) as I'm still currently having to move them on both my E650 and desktop computer. ;) Thanks in advance. Aidan
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 The short answer is "You can't", at least not from your phone. The POP3 mailboxes and your Outlook mailbox are separate. What you could do is setup Outlook on your PC to download the messages from your POP3 mailboxes too, then have a rule to automatically move them to somewhere logical under your Inbox When you sync your phone copies of the messages from the POP3 mailboxes will be created in your Outlook mailbox on your phone. Alternatively you could look at something like the free Exchange accounts at Mail2Web.com. If you can divert your POP3 emails to that account you could then sync solely with the Mail2Web account over-the-air. That would combine your emails into one account that you can sync anywhere (I think you can sync Outlook with that too). Don't forget that mobile data can be very expensive, especially on Orange and O2. You should expect to get through about 0.1-0.5Mb per day (depends on the amount of email and your sync settings).
Guest Pointer Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 (edited) Thanks for your reply. My 2 POP3 accounts do already arrive in my PC Outlook Inbox but I can only see them in the Outlook folder when I connect via USB and use Activesync. The problem is I spend quite a lot of time travelling hence unless I can solve this issue I am reading my emails in the POP 3 accounts on my E650 then when arriving home re-reading and filing my messages. The double handling was annoying when I had the Blacberry Pearl without "Corporate" Enterprise Server and I was hoping Windows Mobile 6 on my E650 would avoid the problem. Guest spacerace Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 the pop account allows email retrieval on the move but no filing, and Outlook local Active Sync allows filing but no remote retrieval. I think a hosted exchange solution is the only way to do what you want. try www.4smartphone.net or www.mailstreet.com or 1&1 (www.1and1.co.uk). none are free but if you seriously want to use email on the go they are worth it. mail2web.com is a free option for hosted exchange, but they use adverts at the bottom of your messages and there is NO Outlook access, webmail and smartphone access only.
