TomTom on Startup

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Not really a major problem as such but very annoying when the phone hangs when I need to get something done or sent. Everytime I soft reset the device the phone starts to automatically boot up TomTom which as you know can take quite a while and brings the phone to a standstill in the meantime!

I imagine theres some kind of script run on bootup that is saying "run TomTom" so is there any way I can stop or intercept that?

I have an MDA compact III if that helps.

Hope someone can help!

There is a TomTom exe file in the 2577 folder on the storage card. When the storage card is first read it reads the 2577 folder and runs any commands it finds there.

Well if I removed that .exe file would I still be able to boot tomtom up via the link on the today screen or does it use the same .exe file?

Yes- the exe file in the 2577 folder is additional to the one in the Navigator folder.

The 2577 folder is a special folder that the OS looks for at startup. Any exe file within it is executed- this may be to start an app, as TTN does, or to install an app as other programs do- if already installed, nothing happens. I have 3 apps that use the 2577 folder if allowed- 2 Sat Nav and one medical reference program. As I don't want them executing when I insert the card, or do a soft reset, I just rename the 2577 folder to something else, and it stops being recognised at startup.

To save space on the card, you can copy the 2577 folder to the PC, then delete the one on the card.
