Cannot Delete 'filename' access denied !

Hi All

Please help !

I have an HTC touch, and all has worked very well so far.. until recently.

I was trying to move a file, from the internal memory using cut and paste in file explorer, when on trying to complete the paste, I got a message :

Cannot Delete 'xxxxx' Access Denied. Be certain that the file is not write protected or currently in use.

I then looked at my memory usage, and it told me I only had 1.2 Mb free, so I set about trying to delete or move things from my internal memory. The trouble is, that now i get this message for EVERY FILE !! - even if its on the memory card.

I cannot move, cut, delete ANYTHING... every attempt produces this error message. I managed to free up 9Mb using internet explorer clear history... but still I am unable to delete any files. Everything else works fine... the files can be opened and used.. just not deleted.

I have tried restarting, and a soft reset. There are no other applications running.

Please.... someone else must have experienced this ? Any ideas and advice gratefully recieved !

Thanks

Is it possible to re-install the file that caused the problem and then delete it from your PC via activesync? ;)

Hi, I have the same problem. Cannot delete any file on my storage card. Not sure what causes the problem. I can connect using ActiveSync but I cannot sync the calendar and stuff.

I even tried explorer the files using ActiveSync and deleting the files from there. Same problem, it keeps saying Access Denied. Anyone has any ideas or solution. Please help. Thanks.

Nigels- your low memory could be causing the problem as there isn't enough cache space to complete the file move/delete operation.

Have you tried opening Pocket IE, and going to Options/Memory/Delete Files, to clear the PIE cache- if you've done a lot of browsing, this can take up loads of space, and the OS won't remove it automatically.

Hi,

I am having the same problem, did you find a solution to this?

Many thanks,

John

I gave up on trying to find a solution and I hard reset my phone (O2 Orbit) and now the writing lock seems to have cleared, not a elegant solution, but it got it back working again, which is the main thing.
