Guest JessicaX Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 (edited) I know you guys are probably tired of seeing this thread, but none of the other threads really addressed my questions. I am a heavy outlook 2007 user. I LIVE by the todo list in outlook with its filtered views, and use color coded categories and task folders religiously. Does the blackberry support task folders, categories, and filtered views? I also want to make appointments on outlook's calendar while away from my desk. Should I get a windows mobile phone (like the t-mobile dash), or the blackberry (like the upcoming 8320)? I'm locked in with t-mobile, and I would like to minimize the monthly fees. Thanks! Guest chucky.egg Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 I can't help much (if at all!) but you're probably better of with a WM6 device than a Dash (which comes with WM5 I think, although there may be a WM6 update available). WM6 has more functionality when sync'ing with an Exchange server running 2007 too - so you'd get the best facilities that way. I can't speak for Blackberries. My old mum has one, and loves it, but they've always seemed ugly looking, with an ugly interface, and very limited expansion. That said if it does what you want "out of the box" then it may still suit your needs. I'm not an MS-fanboy but don't forget the Blackberry outages that have (only?) happened twice this year. My setup (Exchange host, Laptop with Outlook 2003, WM5 smartphone) has been so totally dependable that the RIM problems seem horrendous to me. That said you might find 4Smartphone.net users have a different view of things (they're service died for "a long time" not too long ago) Lastly, if you're abig Outlook user (like me, I live for my calendar) then you should give Papyrus and Facade a try if you get a WM device. http://www.sbsh.net
Guest JessicaX Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Thanks, Chucky! I looked at facade and was really impressed! I do want to go with WM6...which phone do you use? T-mobile offers the Wing, which has wm6. I also have heard good things about the 8525 if I can find an upgraded unlocked one on ebay. -Jess
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 I use a Samsung SGH-I600 (the European version of the Blackjack). It's a great phone, but doesn't have great battery life - at the moment I get 1-2 days out of a full charge, using GSM only (not 3G). I don't know all the model numbers, the 8525 is the Tytn I (i think). They were OK, but quite big and heavy. Never had one so I can't really comment. Bear in mind that the 8525 is a "PocketPC" (PDA first, phone second), whereas the Samsung is a "Smartphone" (phone first, PDA second).
Guest Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 There is an official WM6 upgrade for the Dash
Guest alvin002 Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Should I get a windows mobile phone (like the t-mobile dash), or the blackberry (like the upcoming 8320)? I'm locked in with t-mobile, and I would like to minimize the monthly fees. Thanks! I was looking forward to getting the New BlackBerry 8320 T-Mobile Curve, and now it is available on many stores. I searched it for a long time online for a reasonable price. Here is the lowest price I found(just $125) http://www.ADVERTISING SPAM.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=61454 And it's the smallest, lightest BlackBerry with full QWERTY keyboard--weighs just 3.9 ounces. I found some features and reviews. It seems to be great. http://crackberry.com/out-box-review-t-mob...blackberry-8320 How do you think of it?
