Guest Sheldon Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) Hey all, I recieved my Orange SPV e650 Tuesday and have finally been able to have a play with it. Now I have read about other people's problems about battery life so I've been monitoring it for a short time. I turned the phone on around 7.20 pm and it's now 10.34pm as of writing this message. In that time the battery went from 100% to 89% [5 minutes ago] and now back to 93% ;) I've checked Tornado Power Control [only program that's running], the power reading is apparently 50-60 mA, which I've read is bad considering it should be around 15 when not doing anything? In the time the phone has been on I've sent around 6 texts, 30 seconds of calling and 1 minute of WiFi. There are not many extra programs on the phone/storage card. Like 4-5. I've just checked back on the task manager now and it's back to 100%, what on earth is happening with this phone! Should I be worried about the battery life [i'm hoping I can get 2-3 days general usage out of the phone between charging]? Any tips to help the battery? Thanks in advance EDIT: Just checked the battery again [11.08pm] and its down to 84%. I'm guessing the reason the power went up was because it was connected to my PC [but it was not charging] and power consumption is 189mA. Edited September 14, 2007 by Sheldon
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) 1. Tornado Power Control does not really work on the VOX, the results are meaningless. 2. Check for processes running in the background with CeleTask. 3. Get down on your knees and thank Orange for a totally f*cked up ROM. ;) Edited September 14, 2007 by ICQ_Eagle
Guest Sheldon Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 What processes should I be looking for in CeleTask?
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) My VOX (original unbranded HTC S710) is loaded with software (more than 70 installed) and still never has more than 3 or 4 running as processes. So... Have a look at the number and see what could be totally not needed. Edited September 14, 2007 by ICQ_Eagle
Guest Sheldon Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Just checked and I have 3 programs running, communication manager, Tornado Power Control and celetask. So nothing really out of the ordinary. So does Tornado not work at all? It says its changing the clock speed but who knows.
Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Clockspeed settings might be fine, I just figured that the power consumption displays are quite unrealistic on the Vox. In general the Vox works fine for me up to 3 days, not bad for this kind of device.
Guest Sheldon Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) Ok cool, ill ignore the percentage battery monitors and just leave it to the graphic one and just wait to see how long it takes the battery to die [which appears to not be long, it's on 3 out of 4 bars already lol]. Guest ICQ_Eagle Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 The battery percentage in CeleTask seems quite reliable though, but is not constantly refreshed. And if the battery comes to it's end after a day of super-heavy usage (which never happened to me yet), we're still blessed compared to all those N95 users. Right? I've got a friend with N95 who must charge at least 3 times per day and actually mostly uses it only as a normal phone. THAT would ruin my nerves! ;)
