Hi all, new to this board and this is my first post. I have been looking at the HTC tytn 2 and the Eten x500+ but as I have no experiance with pocket pc's or windows mobile I am not sure which one is best to get. I have a nokia n91 which I got for it's multimedia capabilities, so my new phone must be good at this! The reason i am looking at pocket pc's is because I was told that windows mobile is better than symbian os, is this true? Finally, what is the best allround phone (pocket pc or smartphone) that you can buy?

Thanks

Come on people, help a poor guy out. I am swaying to the x500+ as it lists alot of glofiish only apps, where as the tytn2 doesn't say much about it. But the tytn 2 is a bit more expensive so I presume it can do lots more or better than the x500+, but what? Also I presume wm6 is the same on both phones with the same apps? Also I want the best phone available as long as it is not much bigger than these phones, remember video playback and audio quality/loudness is important!

Thanks to anyone who replies!!!

Eten doesn't have a keyboard which IMO is vital cos screen keybaords are a real pain and not as quick as thumb typing.

Also the screen tilt on TyTN II is good.

That's why I waited for the TyTN!

I don't think it matters whether the E-Ten M700 has a keyboard or not as he is interested in the X500+.... (which doesn't have a keyboard)

Functionality-wise, both the Tytan and X500+ are very similar. On the balance of it though, from a media playing point of view, I would be tempted to go for the x500+. The reason being the higher resolution screen and headphone jack - better for video and you can use your own headphones.

On the other hand, the Tytan has a faster processor and 3G. If you are interested in watching streamed video or even listening to streamed music (or radio websites) then 3G is a must. If you don't do that now then you should consider whether you might do that in future as media streaming is becoming more and more popular. The headphone issue can be gotten around by using an adapter (http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?partner=modaco&i=151762). The screens of both devices are 2.8" and video looks fine on either but would probably look better on the x500+. Most of the Glofish apps you can probably get off the web with a bit of searching, it really depends on whether you actually want to use them or not.

So it comes down to whether you want high res screen and slightly lower price or ability to stream media and slightly higher price. Bear in mind that you have wifi on both devices so if you have a wifi connection to the internet then you should be able to stream media on either.

Another point is that a lot of users have experienced problems with the X500+ especially with T-Mobile.

i'd say you go for tytn ii. it's one of the hottest ppc's nowadays. and why not, with all the features.

I currently have an Eten M600. I've had this device now for 2 years and loved it.

It was one of the first 400Mhz phones and I the speed made it really great. It's what seperated the M600 from the rest at the time.

Now, my screen is packing up (the stylus is failing), it's looking old and I'm getting fed up with entering text messages with the onscreen keyboard I've been in the market for a phone with the keyboard.

After looking around I am totaly going for the HTC TyTN II. One paper it's amazing and in the forums people love it also.

Though you're talking about the x500+ with it's VGA screen. At the time the fast processor was the difference between Eten and HTC, for the x500+ it's the screen.

I would love a VGA screen and it's the only thing that has stopped me from buying the TyTN, but with my failing screen I've had to jump ship and ordered the TyTN, should arrive next week ;)

It's up to you though, the x500+ is a nice device, but for me the features and the keyboard of the TyTN II make it the perfect choice.
