keyboard/buttons problem

I just got my hands on my HTC branded Kaiser. I've got the Dutch Retail version which is translated to Dutch. Yesterday my frontbuttons and keyboard worked just fine, but now only the "Start" buttons work (on both the keyboard and front). After pressing the start button the other buttons do work but after switching the screen off and on the problem is back.

I tried hard-resetting with holding both the softkeys and pressing the reset button, but the device doesn't hard-reset (which worked fine yesterday). Also resetting with the Config Panel -> remove storage doesn't correct the problem.

The odd is that the softkeys work after pressing the "start" button, so it isn't a hardware problem.

Is there a way to rest the device with the computer? I was thinking of getting the phone in to bootloader without flashing and restart the device again.
