Guest Mechanicaldan Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 https://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t...&t_mode=des Just found the above device, and I think it may be the solution I was looking for to use with my v1415. I also like it because I can use it with my laptop too. I'd appreciate some comments from people that have GPS experience to comment on this device and chipset. How about software? TomTom? I don't have a data connection, so I need maps and software that I can keep on a MicroSD card. Thanks, Dan ;)
Guest GuyAdams Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) The Proporta GPS device uses the SiRF Star III chipset which in my experience is one of the best GPS chipsets. It has a fast cold boot time and good GPS lock once booted. I too have a v1415 and am looking at purchasing this GPS device. Software wise, Tom Tom is very good and works well on Windows Mobile devices but isn't easily migrated to another device should you for instance change to a pocket PC at the end of your contract. Both Google maps and Windows live search have the ability to use a GPS aerial and are both free. Thanks Edited September 23, 2007 by GuyAdams
