Unlocking i320

Hi, that's my first post :wub: yeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I have 2 questions in my mind:

1) what advantages will i have by unlocking my phone (and, by the way) what's the correct procedure

2) how i can modify "read only" files in my phone? such as the boots screen etc... because their being in "read only" mode don't let me to select them :D

well the boot screens are in the windows folder named oem_splash and ets you can copy them to your sotragecard or someplace else with rescoexplorer when you change the file atributes this way i changed mine to the wm6 boot one :D
