Guest yatpeak Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Does Orange Backup save to the Orange Network? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest Bazz Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 It saves to an Orange server, but it's available across the internet - not just Orange's GPRS. Well so I've read, but I haven't tried it on the PC passthrough yet...
Guest yatpeak Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Do you know how to get to it over the net? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest Bazz Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Providing you got the phone from Orange (even if you are not on the Orange Network) the settings should be in there. Just run it either over GPRS or using your PCs connection. If doing this through your PC you have to set up passthrough connections first thoug, which allows you to use your PC internet connection as opposed to GPRS (see http://www.bornsloppy.co.uk/fix.htm) As I say I haven't tried this. It may need the Orange GPRS network and/or an Orange SIM. Give it a go and let us know. Barry
Guest Roadster Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 No I don't believe so. I say this because when I performed a hard reset on me SPV and then wanted to use the restore feature. It would not do it, had me password or login name wrong. Anyway the upshot of this was when I contacted orange to try and retrieve this information they couldn't do anything about it because it was all handled by a seperate company. So if u do use the backup service make sure u remeber ya details cause there is no way to retrieve it!! Thing is once u register with the backup service theres not even anywhere that tells u what name you've logged in with. So u could be backing up for months with a totally different log in, than you first thought.
Guest Bazz Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 You can get your password at: http://www.orangews.com/actionbackup/GetPWHint.asp Not sure about username though...
Guest Rob.P Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 You probably want to talk to Action, I think they are the ones that designed the Update and Backup progs.
