Guest broken1 Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 On my S710, I use direct-push (active-sync with exchange server). I got phoneAlarm which is set so that about the time I get home, it changes my profile and activates my WiFi. I thought that direct push would work through WiFi but I see my GPRS counter is still going up? Haven't used the internet explorer or anything. If you go into the communication pannel to de-activate GPRS, it deactivates Direct-Push. I am at home, with my wifi always connected (I disabled the disconnect on standby). Any ideas?

Any ideas? nope you can't, full article here if you cba to read/search the full article, here is the short version 3. Is Direct Push supported over Wi-Fi? No. Direct Push requires a cellular data connection. It is not supported over Wi-Fi or Desktop Passthrough(when the device is cradled). Due to hardware limitations, Wi-Fi cannot go into standby mode and receive notifications. So in order to support Direct Push over Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi connection would have to be kept alive which in turn would drain the battery very rapidly.
