Guest patnpm Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 I ordered the full set of TomTom maps once I'd got my Kaiser - direct from the HTC website. The order was placed with expansys. That was 16 days ago and expansys still have it on awaiting stock, 5 days expected (I guess a lot of people have got the Kaiser and ordered it) Is there anywhere else I can get this full set of Europe maps as cheaply?
Guest Ves Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Order it from the tomtom site. It's even less then when you order it from expansys, Just got to tomtom, register your tomtom taster (the site expains how) and order some maps. Compare the price
Guest Neil5459 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 If you've got a fast BB connection, you can download any of the maps, but bear in mind that the full EU version is going on for 1GB. Register and log on to TomTom, then select Maps from the home page. Single region (UK and IE, France, Italy, etc) are £42.95 and full EU is £69.95. Pay on the site, and download immediately. (Incidentally, if you don't already have TTN6, you can get the same price and include the TTN6 operating software by selecting TTN5 as your current version. There is no version checking, or confirmation necessary and a breakout box informs you that the map download will include TTN6! I'm sure they'll close this loophole in due course ;) )
Guest oldyuk Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 Hallo, I am new in this Forum and new with HTC. I got with my TyTN II the TomTom taster version (the map downloaded from TT is working correctly) . The dealer Inkino sold me "Maps collection Western Europe - DVD". When I read the description, the maps are for TT Go, Go 3000-500-510-700-710, One, Rider (EAN 0 636926014335)!! They convinced me that those maps will work on the TyTN II. Do those maps really work on my TyTN II? If yes, as a full version or at least with the taster version? I have not opened the package yet in order to return the DVD in case... As I understand from the previous discussions, the taster version is not a full version? What do I get better when I acquire a full operating system? Kind Regards

The TomTom program you got is a full working version. It is called 'taster' because you get only one city map for free. I downloaded US(western) maps from TomTom and they work fine. I cannot say if the maps you have will work but lots of people here have been loading both the TomTom Programs and maps from other devices and they have been working.... I find it hard to beleive that TomTom would make different maps for diferent devices unless there were a major code upgrade from one year to the next. Edited September 29, 2007 by zachto_man

Would i be able to copy these maps onto another Sd card and use them with the Tytn II. ie do i actually need to buy new maps to make it work
Guest Neil5459 Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 TTN5 should work on the TyTnII but it is a pain to get working on any WM5/WM6 device; besides, the TTN5 maps are getting a bit old by now, so you may be better to buy a whole new setup. You can't use TTN5 maps with TTN6 and vice versa. So, copying your existing maps for use with the version of TTN6 that came with the TyTnII won't work (besides any Activation issues you may encounter); so, cheapest option for you, if you do have the TTN6 taster is to go to the TT site, select Maps, Buy Online, then select 'Navigator 6' as your current version. This will allow you to buy the maps you want, download and sync to your TyTn via TomTom Home.
