Guest TomaHawk Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 is it possible to connect to the internet on a mac using a vario 3 if so how? and what do i need? Thanks
Guest rjlawson Posted September 30, 2007 Report Posted September 30, 2007 Yes, just use Internet Sharing to setup the Bluetooth PAN & connect to it.
Guest Josh K Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 BUMP - PLEASE, please please help us OSX users out! I really want to connect my MDA Vario III up to my mac and use it for internet access over USB but there's nothing on the internet to help me figure this out. I've followed any guides as far as I can but i seem to need a USB driver or something. Come on chaps, this would be a lifesaver! Josh x
Guest Ghost_1 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 What version/type of mac are you running. Supposedly people have been able to set up the newer macs running the intel dual core proccessors. I'm on OSX10.3.xxx I've had no luck. If I get something working I'll get some pictures and a walk through up, but I"ve been trying on and off for a year. lol
Guest Josh K Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 yeap! 10.3.9 and no luck, although i'll defo be upgrading to 10.5 next week and hopefully moving into good times and happy days!x
Guest Josh K Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 i've noticed that when we connect our phones with USB and enter NETWORK PREFERENCES a message is supposed to pop up recognising the phone as a modem. on 10.3.x this evidently doesn't happen. so, the question is, how can we make this happen? anyone got a driver out there for us?x
Guest trancefan Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 im struggling with this too (BT or USB) and its one of main uses I intended to use it for! Running osx 10.3.9. usingInternet Sharing to setup the Bluetooth PAN & connect to it doesnt work. Some bright spark on here must have got it to work. even better would be instructions for set up as a wifi access point to a powerbook.
Guest Ghost_1 Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 This is a little more help to anyone who is more adept at doing things then me. This guy has somehow written scripts for the modem connection for the mac. I've used his scripts for my motorola phones and my nokia phones and they worked great. I haven't had any luck with the WM phones maybe someone else will. here's the link the rest is pretty straight forward. http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ Hopefully someone can come up with something.

Sorry, but that doesn't work with the HTC Kaiser. Every Bluetooth connection my Mac says "the device was ignored". I'm using OSX 10.4.10 Today i'll check the USB driver but i think it will have the same effect.
Guest MacHooligan Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Any updates on this chaps? I've searched all over & still can't seem to connect via my Kaiser. Strange as connecting via my Hermes (UK T-Mobile) on the same MacBook Pro was flawless. :D Can anyone help?
