calling the UK from USA

Hi all, going to be making a few trips to the USA over the next few months, and would like to use my mobile there (spv m3100) whats going to be the cheapest way? just using the roaming on my orange contract, or would I be better off buying a UK PAYG simcard from another network, or buying a USA PAYG simcard?

Not as important but one with cheap internet access would be good to, which I think would need a USA PAYG simcard to make it affordable?

Whats the best way to do this?

If you use a uk sim (yours or a pay as you go) wouldn't you be paying roaming plus what ever they international call rate is? Where as if you use a us pay as you go sim you would just be paying the rate. Of course both rates are probably pretty high.

For internet you'd be better off with a us pay as you go sim, I believe at&t and t-mo (you're only 2 real options) have semi reasonable rates for internet for pay as you go customers.

The best option for both though may be to find an open wifi hotspot and then use skype or your sip client of choice for your calls. That would be the least expensive, if not the easiest, way to do it.
