Hi All,

I find myself having to return my phone for repair after it suddenly decided to no longer recognise the micro sd card, (cards fine - reads in other devices). Whats worse is that for some reason I simpy cannot get the device to be recognised by windows mobile device center. I've tried USB, BT and IR, but no joy. I spoke to HTC and arranged to return the phone for a check up as to why suddenly everything has messed up.

But I have a problem. How can I backup my contacts (~1000) from my phone before I send the hand set back, now that i cannot get the pc to recognise it?

Any ideas? - is there a simple file / database I can copy off the phone? Any utilities that can export the contacts list to a file?

I am able to send files to / from the phone over BT or IR user Smart Explorer.

Please help!

I don't know if this applies to Smartphones but in PPC (touchscreen) devices, all the Contact, Calendar and Task info is held in a file called pim.vol, which is in the root of main memory. To view it, you need to have 'show all files' selected in File Explorer.

If that's the case then you can copy this to a safe location; it can be a pain to copy back, as its a system file, but can be done.
