Guest mandt Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 After playing for ages I finally figured this out! If any neatness freaks like me anyone are irritated by the way the Camera on the Kaiser saves to \Storage Card\DCIM\100MEDIA, and would like it instead to save to \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures to keep everything tidy, edit the following registry key HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\General and change EnableDCIM from 1 to 0 as with all registry changes hold down the power key to switch off, then restart ;)

Guest kapot Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Nice finding! I also saw more interesting registries there: FilenameType = 0 ??? MacroMode = 0 ???
Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Dude, can I have an idiots guide to changing registry keys please.
Guest dolbe666 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Nice finding! I also saw more interesting registries there: FilenameType = 0 ??? Guest mandt Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 An Idiots guide to editing the Registry Download and install either Resco Explorer with registry plugin or Total Commander Resco puts a shortcut for 'Resco Registry' in the start menu, with TC run it and hit the \\ at the top of the tree until you see the registry option now browse to the path HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\General (HKLM is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) click on the value EnableDCIM and change the data from 1 to 0......save........exit.......hold down the power key to switch off as mentioned above.....restart You can edit the registry to tweak all manner of things have a look at these pages in the wiki for more examples Pint please ;)
Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Thanks Mandt. Let me know next time you're in London and I'll gladly treat you to a pint... and if you help with all my other thousand and one questions I may even buy you 2 pints ;)
Guest creamhackered Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 (edited) Nice fix but when you open up the pictures app it goes to the DCIM folder instead...! Edited October 15, 2007 by creamhackered
Guest mandt Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Change it with the drop-down arrow, you only need to do it once ;)
Guest creamhackered Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Change it with the drop-down arrow, you only need to do it once ;) Not if you close the app or reboot the phone you don't. you have to do it everytime :(
Guest mandt Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Oh that's reall wierd, every WM device I've used goes to My Pictures on the device, the fact that yours goes straight to the Card seems to suggest it can be changed /me searches the Registry in hope ;)
Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Mandt, being a fussy so&so I just went to amend the Registry as you suggested. But guess what??? My setting was already on 0. Is that normal? In detail - I had (0x0) 0
Guest mandt Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Where does your Camera save its photos (when set to save to Storage Card)? If your EnableDCIM value is set to 0 then the Camera should already save to \My Documents\My Pictures, in which case leave it alone also ,where are you getting this info from? In detail - I had (0x0) 0

The pics are saved to My Storage/My Pics. Only thing is, when I open up My Pics & Videos I still get My Device/My Pics & Videos. Is there anyway to change it to Storage card as default? Ive tried to leave it on storage, but once you close down My Pics & Vids and go back in at a later time you go back into My Device Edited October 16, 2007 by sc0user_75
Guest mandt Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 That is the norm, although creamhackered's seems to go straight to \Storage Card\DCIM for some strange reason ;) I'm currently trying to work out if there's a way to set Pictures and Videos to go to a folder of your choosing, as the fact that creamhackered's Pics n Vids app starts up on his card suggests there's a way it can be changed, although I've had no joy so far
Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Good luck Mandt. Now to go reply to your post about spbdiary ;)
Guest creamhackered Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Yeah it would be neat to just have it open by default to the storage card and my pictures instead of the device. Not sure why Microsoft don't just enable this as an option. Hopefully when the new HTC Touch pictures app gets released we'll be able to port this to the Kaiser ;)
Guest mandt Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Amen to that!! Have you seen the Video on msmobiles?
Guest mandt Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Check out PocketCM Image Viewer I've got it on my Touch and it's great! slide between photos using your finger, tap to zoom, double tap to zoom out. Its only up to version0.3 and already showing a lot of promise
Guest mandt Posted November 19, 2007 Report Posted November 19, 2007 Yeah it would be neat to just have it open by default to the storage card and my pictures instead of the device. I did it, I did it!! See here
Guest sc0user_75 Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 I did it, I did it!! See here Mandt if this works you are a genius ;) But, before I can carry out this task, could you please give me a quick confirmation on how to put the Storage Card Files into my VIII. I have a rough idea, but just in case I mess something up please :(
Guest mandt Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 It does work ;) they're just shortcuts, extract them from the zip and paste them into \Windows\Start Menu
