Guest andysalmon Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Sorry if I'm being a bit dense here, but I've got a program that works when the .exe is selected from the SD but when I copy and paste it into "my device/windows/start menu/programs" it begins to start then comes up with an error message "Unable to start. An error occurred acessing a file." It doesn't matter whether I remove the .exe from the SD card or not, it's always the same result. I know I could just install to main memory but I'd like to save some storage space on the SD. Any ideas peeps? Edited October 4, 2007 by andysalmon
Guest Neil5459 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I suspect that what you are doing is copying the whole EXE file to the Programs folder, but that the program needs some other support of library files in it's parent folder to operate correctly- executing the file from Programs will fail because these support files aren't present. Rather than copying the whole EXE file, you need to copy the file, as you've slrady done, but rather than ctrl-v to Paste it into Programs, navigate to the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder, then tap Menu/Eidt/Paste Shortcut Now the entry in prgrams will be a shrtcut to the actualo exe file, and its support files on the SD card
Guest andysalmon Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Neil, yes of course. Not enough time spent in WM ;) That was exactly right. Thank you very much. Andy
