Guest peacesquid Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 hello chaps, long time lurker here. Right... I need some advice. I've been with Vodafone for like nine years. Anyway, I wanted the SPV M700 because I use an M500 with a seperate GPS. I thought Voda did their own version (I found a 'Vodafone VPA Compact GPS thing on the net but cant find one to buy) and so asked for my PAC code from Voda with a view to switching to Orange. Wow... Voda are currently jumping through hoops. Bless 'em, they've offered me a v1615 for free on my existing tariff. As long as I get GPS built in and Wi-Fi I'm mostly happy but what's the better phone? Should I snap their hands off for it? any advice = much appreciated.
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I'd take it if I was you (assuming you're happy with your tariff) Worst case you could sell it on eBay and get an M700 and a fistful of cash. I've not used an M700, but have looked at them since the Kaiser came out. I assumed their price would drop instantly, which doesn't seem to have happened (last time I looked)
Guest Shuflie Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 From this it looks like the Kaiser is very slightly taller than the M700, its also 40g heavier. What you get in return is a proper keyboard and double the RAM and storage space, I know which I would choose but it depends on your own personal preference.
Guest jimbouk Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I would go for the Kaiser every time...
Guest Webreaper Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Take the Kaiser. The voda one is nice (apart from the logo and shiny back it's a 'vanilla' TyTNII). Why would you want an M700 which is an old handset?
Guest peacesquid Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 thanks everyone for the replies. i think i'll be going with the Kaiser. Take the Kaiser. The voda one is nice (apart from the logo and shiny back it's a 'vanilla' TyTNII). Why would you want an M700 which is an old handset? well I'm not too bothered about being current. I absolutely adore the M500 and wasnt thinking of lashing it until I saw the M700 which I imagine will look particularly swish in white. I hadnt even considered the Kaiser, although I had looked it up on here, until they offered it to me. I'll get it and then see how I get on with it. If it's not my cup of tea I'll get myself an M700 assuming they are easy enough to unlock. thanks again chaps.
Guest Webreaper Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I think the main thing is that the Kaiser has the form-factor, looks, and functionality of the M700, but with the additional benefits of a keyboard (with no compromise on device size) plus GPS, USB2, WM6 instead of WM5, 3mp camera instead of 2mp, and twice as much ROM + RAM (big benefit, as it makes Windows Mobile run fantastically well). http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&a...733&id2=653
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 They're both great devices... the Kaiser every time for me, depends how much weight and keyboard matter to you? P
Guest peacesquid Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 They're both great devices... the Kaiser every time for me, depends how much weight and keyboard matter to you? P not a massive consideration. I can live without the keyboard and I'm used to the weight of the m500. at least it doesnt get lost in pockets and whatever. spoke to Voda today, they are sending it and I should get it tomorrow. sorted!
