Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I've just been trawling through the net to get confirmation on how to install Cab files. The most common method described was the following: * On the phone go to the directory called "Start Menu". In here create a new folder called "To Install". * Copy your Cab file to the "To Install" folder on your phone. * Then click on the file you wish to install in this folder. * Install whereever you wish - on the phone or memory card. * Once the Cab file has been installed it will disappear from the "To INstall" folder. Would you guys say this is the best method? Thanks
Guest Flubster Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Doesn't matter where you put the cab file if you use the filemanager to run the cab file. When the cab is installed, it won't delete like previous WM versions Putting a directory called TO_INSTALL just means you can browse to the install file using the start menu but as WM6 doesn't delete the source cab file, you'll have loads of icons there unless you manually delete them, if you use the filemanager you can put the cab where you want. Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 So, using File Manager on the phone, would it be easy-peazy to locate the Cab file you want to install?
Guest Phil Lee Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I put the cab files into a folder called \Storage Card\cabs and use File Explorer or Total Commander to run them.
Guest sc0user_75 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I put the cab files into a folder called \Storage Card\cabs and use File Explorer or Total Commander to run them. Alas, I dont have a storage card yet (I have a sneaky feeling the 8 gig'ers are just around the corner ;) ) so can't store my Cab files in this option.
