Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Using a bunch of tools created by the clever chaps at XDA-Developers, i've created a MoDaCo Boot Splash for the Kaiser. Much nicer than the T-Mo one and should work on any Kaiser! Download and extract the attached ZIP. Step 1 installs Hard-SPL on your device (CID unlock and no signature check for flashes). Step 2 installs the actual boot screen. As with any flash process there is a slight danger of bricking if you were to do something silly part way through the flash - you do it at your own risk. It worked fine for me though! ;) P PS This process won't hard reset your device, so your data is safe! Kaiser_MoDaCo_Splash.zip
Guest FloatingFatMan Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 Any chance of a screenie of the splash?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Just me that's flashed this then I assume ;) hehe... P

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Er, I guess, i'll create one in a bit ;) P

Much nicer than the T-Mo one and should work on any Kaiser! Looks great but... 1) is there a way to customize and replace the content of modacodude.jpg by something more personal? ;) 2) can you elaborate on the unlock step1? What does it do exactly? 3) is the process reversible with a hard reset (I'm thinking in case of a warranty claim)? 4) still amazed by the amount of work you put into this... It's clearly a great advantage to pick up the same phone as you when you upgrade! :(
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 1) Yes, i'll do a how to if you want! 2) Step 1 flashes an unlocked bootloader, that lets you flash updates not signed by HTC (such as a boot screen update). It also lets you switch between device ROMs as a side effect (CID unlock). 3) No, but they won't care ;) 4) :( I can't see me switching of the Kaiser for a while TBH! P

Guest DJ_Enigma Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I'd like a picture of my son ;)
Guest Jim_R Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I'd like a picture of my son ;) The TILT vibrates with the boot splash, any chance this will eliminate the vibrate? Also, anyone have the GIF animation for the HTC? I disabled the startup Animation on my TILT, but the boot didn't speed up any, so now I'm looking for something cool to display instead.
Guest FloatingFatMan Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 2) Step 1 flashes an unlocked bootloader, that lets you flash updates not signed by HTC (such as a boot screen update). It also lets you switch between device ROMs as a side effect (CID unlock). Wait, you're saying this does the full CID unlock, without hard resetting my phone? That's the only thing stopping me doing it, as I don't really want to redo 2 weeks worth of app installs! ;)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Correct... But if you don't want to hard reset, why are you bothered about CID unlock anyway ;) P
Guest FloatingFatMan Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Well... I don't want to hard reset NOW... But at some point there'll be an updated ROM that I want enough to want to reinstall. I just didn't want to have to reinstall just for a boot piccy! OK, question 2. Can that Windows picture be replaced as well? The one that shows after the boot picture?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Yes, that's pretty straightforward. I'll include that too in a tutorial ;) P
Guest Deathace Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 The quick and dirty way to replace the windows bootup screen (not the splash) is to replace the file welcomehead.96.png in the windows directory with a picture 320x320 72dpi res and 24bit colour depth save it as the same name above and use either resco explorer or create a cabfile to overwrite the permissions on the original file. HTH Russ
Guest Manni01 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 1) Yes, i'll do a how to if you want! P Thanks for all the answers, and yes, a tutorial would be great, I'd love to put a pic of my daughter!
Guest Mr.Clark Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 2) Step 1 flashes an unlocked bootloader, that lets you flash updates not signed by HTC (such as a boot screen update). It also lets you switch between device ROMs as a side effect (CID unlock).Silly question - does this stay in place if you upgrade the ROM (to an unofficial or official later version - not that I plan to, but there will be legal upgrades eventually), or would it need to be reapplied each time? The quick and dirty way to replace the windows bootup screen (not the splash) is to replace the file welcomehead.96.png in the windows directory with a picture 320x320 72dpi res and 24bit colour depth save it as the same name above and use either resco explorer or create a cabfile to overwrite the permissions on the original file. HTH Russ Beautiful. Thanks ;)
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Generally it'll stay in place i'd say? P
Guest gvr Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Installs easily & works a treat! Cheers Paul
Guest liteswap Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 ^^ like he said ;) P I've got a Vodafone v1615 - and although Voda has (largely) left it as HTC made it, they've disabled VoIP - so I can't get Skype to work. Will the flashed ROM re-enable Skype? Thanks.
