Guest Subliminal Aura Posted October 8, 2007 Report Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) I was wondering if I could use the orangewap AP under a hsdpa connection to capitalise on my free WAP browsing. Edited October 9, 2007 by Subliminal Aura
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Sorry for the bump... But does anyone else have this bundle - Lets just say I've received my bill and have a smile on my face ;)
Guest jimbouk Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I have OWU but regularly switch between orangewap and orangeinternet on my kaiser (both for local browsing and for ICS to laptop). I have had unlimited for a year and although the bill refers to wap and to gprs, neither are actually counted...

I've had it from the very start when they were trialling it - I hope I have retained the the same package as they were shifting me around last year. Confirmed that all traffic using the orangewap as an accesspoint either via gprs or hdpsa is uncharged. ;) PS How much data were you using daily/monthly :( Edited November 13, 2007 by Subliminal Aura
Guest jimbouk Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I have the OWU at £8 per month inc VAT for 1gb. It was only available for a short time last year but they have continued it after I upgraded to the Tytn2. Before OWU, I used to buy a 15mb bundle and my bill used to show seperate usage for wap and gprs - and technically it still does, but it says none used. I think my own GPRS measurements have peaked at 200mb per month but I average only about 80mb.
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Thanks for the info Jimbo. I have a very old bundle from some 4 years back when orange were trialling unlimited WAP access for 3/4 quid a month. Another Good reason why Orange HATES ME ;)
Guest jimbouk Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Considering they dont differentiate between wap and internet, you should be laughing. (Even though their t&c's often reference wap and internet differently)

(Even though their t&c's often reference wap and internet differently) Indeed... Just been on the phone to orange who confirm its £4 a month unlimited and they verified that my recent net access has not been charged ! WOOOOot !!! Now if only I had kept my old one2one tariff ;) Edited November 13, 2007 by Subliminal Aura
Guest crazyc Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 I saw a comment on another thread about how someone had received a text from orange stating that their OWU (The mystical £8 1Gig deal) would finish in April 2008 and that they would need to discuss a new data package. Anyone else had this? I would hate to lose this and it would indeed effect my decision to renew and upgrade in Jan/february. If I do upgrade, and keep my OWU to then be told later that it will stop, surely that is materially changing my contract terms to my detriment? Any thoughts/experiences?

If I look at the online account info (from my phone) it says mine will expire in Feb 2008! I am about to upgrade next month - wonder if they will allow me to keep/extend it?

I am about to upgrade next month - wonder if they will allow me to keep/extend it? Just looked at mine - where does it give the expiry date? Went back and checked the terms and conditions - Doh! it says a maximum of 18 months - so will expire when my contract does in february. If T mobile did not have a blackspot for reception over a group of about 8 houses of which mine is in the middle (can be seen on their coverage map!) I would probably jump to them.
Guest jimbouk Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 My OWU - which is now called "Orange World Browsing" says it started on 3rd Dec 2006 (which is correct) and expires on June 2 2008, but when I upgraded my 3100 to a Tytn2 this October, I insisted that I have the same bundles and tariffs for the 18 month life of the contract and have that written on the Orange shop paperwork. So here's hoping...

Guest crazyc Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Just looked at mine - where does it give the expiry date? Any hints guys - I have been through my online account and bills and cannot find any mention of an expiry date.
Guest jimbouk Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 Look at "my account" in PIE favourites on your device.

Cheers Never used that before - but apparently they are having a problem identifying my phone and I should check back ater (don't think that will help) EDIT - Even tried using the orangewap apn - no luck. Had to put my Sim in an old Nokia to get this to work. But now I see my Orange bundle expires in March! D'oh!
Guest mwright Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Just spken to Orange (retentions actually) and although I can get a TYTN II for free on the tariff I want, they cannot extend/renew the OWU bundle that will expire in February. So I am stuck I guess. Either accept the 30Mb for £8 plus the unlimited off peak data or jump ship.
Guest Neil5459 Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Either accept the 30Mb for £8 plus the unlimited off peak data or jump ship. Having both bundles is not possible :( It's £8 per month 30MB anytime, or £5 pm offpeak; Their billing systems can only have one active Orange World bundle at a time.

The OWB is very important to me, probably more important than paying a small fee for the phone, so might try the shop route as discussed by Jimbouk. PS- anyone know what is likely to happen or what the options are if Orange turn round later and say that the shop should not have agreed that? Edited December 3, 2007 by crazyc
Guest Monolithix Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 To be honest i wouldn't hold much hope regarding the shop, they can't do anything unless CS say so. So either jimbouk was very lucky, lied to by the O Shop person, or they were lied to by CS...
Guest crazyc Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Presumably though if the shop has written it down, and then they refuse to honour it, I am not tied to that contract and can walk away?
Guest Monolithix Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 I don't know about that. Probably best to check Orange's small print and the Sales of Goods act :(
Guest crazyc Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 I don't know about that. Probably best to check Orange's small print and the Sales of Goods act :( From memory if they varied the terms so that it significantly disadvantged the other party then you could break the contract. Removing the £8 for 1gb bundle and replacing it with £8 for 30mb would materially affect my decision to sign up to that contract. Cannot get Tmobile where I live, but would consider 02 and Vodafone.
Guest Monolithix Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Not much better for data then! Personally i'm on 3 with their £5/1GB X-series bundle. Works great!
