Hi guys,

Since de-certifying my SPV, I've now aquired a second, invisible general alarm. Unfortunately, it is set to 6:20 in the morning (the last time before I de-certifyed my phone) and changing the time in the time/date options page simply sets an alarm at the new time, with the "old" alarm STILL going off at 6:20 ;)

Anyone know a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

This is an _old_ problem, right form tthe first batch etc. Try doing a forum search to see if anyone ever came up with a solution, usually because of a recurring Outlook-set alarm etc.

Registry here-we-come!!

You have to find in reg:

- folder "Alarm" or "Alarms"

it will contain a number of folders ranging from 0 to 3 (on mine)..

I assume the settings for alarms are there.

I am not sure how to tackle them, but that's a start for you.

Just to update you, all, I've found a solution to my "invisible" alarm problem above!

After exhausting every option that I could think of and those offered by other folks on this forum and the MS news forum, including madukrainian's suggestion above and those of changing the alarm time to that of the invisible alarm and then turning the alarm off, etc... I finally got bored of being woken up at 6:20 am even on the weekends!

So, this weekend just gone, I decided to carry out another hard reset to try and fix the problem, after firstly making copies of the ".vol" files in the IPSM directory.

However, after the hard reset had completed and I copied the files back, the problem was much worse - I now had two invisible alarms, on for 6:20 am and one for 6:25 am!

From this, I deduced that the problem must be associated with the ".vol" files and decided to try removing them one at a time. The first to go was the "mxip_initdb.vol" and luckily, this seems to have fixed my problem! This morning, I had just one alarm go off, the one I set for 6:00 am - RESULT!

So, for those of you suffering with the same problem and who have noticed it after doing a hard reset and copying back your old ".vol" files, this appears to be the fix.

BE WARNED: You should be aware that the "mxi_initdb.vol" file contains both your contacts and calendar appointments, etc.. so these will all be lost. So I would advise performing an activesync with Outlook before proceeding with the above in order to ensure that your data is backed up and can be easily restored.

Well, I hope this helps some of you folks out,

Adam

Hax - good effort. I heard some people experiencing problems after deleting .vol files and that was addressed in ala 'How to back up Inbox' topic somewhere here. But as long as it worked and you don't need to get up at 6 on Sunday - that's what counts ;)

Thanks for posting the solution. I was having exactly the same issue except an 'invisable alarm' at 7.0am. Really annoying!

I just did a full hard reset last night and it seemed to work... sounds like you had more method to the madness!

Cheers,

Ade
