Because some HTC were launched with the GPS, but not active and after a while some guys found it. Im pretty sure that we would know if there was a gps chip in the device. Why would HTC put a quite expensive chip in this phone and then just leave it? Sure, it would be REALLY nice, but dont count on it. ;-) In the meantime I just use my Holux 236 gps, that works flawlessly.
