Guest tigerw Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Modaco, great site!! keep up the great work... So, I live on the other side of the pond and bought an AT&T 8925 aka Kaiser.. It's definitely stripped down compared to what is shipping from HTC, no carrying case, GPS software, front camera, etc. but I can't complain as the GPS is really cool and a great feature. With regard to the ROM are the 2 units (Kaiser / 8925) interchangable? I like the HTC homepage better than the AT&T homepage on the phone is it possible to change over to the HTC version or am I stuck? Also, this came preloaded with TelNav but it doesn't appear to be a GPS version just a mapping version and only a 30 day trial at that. anyway it's loaded to the homepage screen and I can't figure out how to remove it, any suggestions? The phone dialer program works OK but getting to and retrieving a contact from my contact list is patheticly difficult to do with one hand any suggestions aside from using voice on how to make that easier? Thanks guys/gals... TW,
Guest blesbok Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Yes, you can flash it to the HTC rom. I did it just yesterday. Go here and follow these directions to unlock it and enable the flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679 Then go here and download the rom and update it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332246 Use the HTC factory shipped rom and also make sure to download the keyboard fix as some of the symbols on the kaiser keyboard are in different locations. As far as navigation goes, you can install any aftermarket nav program that you want. Just set the GPS to com4 in the settings of said program. I am currently using iGo my way 2006 plus until I can get a bigger SD card, since tomtom and iguidance no longer split their maps and the US map is 950mb.

What other advantages are there in the HTC version of the ROM? Just a general question with regard to GPS and applications. I noticed that Garmin has a new version out on SD called Garmin Mobile XT when using this application do you have to laod the SD eac time? I mean do I have to carry around an SD card for Garmin and one for my music and one for my Video, etc. or can they be combined onto a single card? Thanks,
