Guest guffest Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) just gonna bump this up cause i think it could solve problems with people with macs who want to get internet through their kaiser... BUMP Hi Josh, I have done this on my Vario III. Just followed the instructions as per the first link, worked a treat... For Vario III use TNETW12511 reg value. Just remember to remove fixed IP afterwards when you want to connect to a wifi network! http://www.modaco.com/content/HTC-Kaiser-K...d-stupid-user-/ Edited November 1, 2007 by guffest

Guest trancefan Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) Hi Can someone post here the steps necessary for the Vario 3 in non-techie terms. Im confused by the first post on the XDA developers site and desperate to get this working for a meeting later this week. <_< Struggled for several weeks trying to use my OSX 10.3.9 Mac with the Vario 3 and this seems the best way to do it. Thanks in advance. Edited November 6, 2007 by trancefan
Guest jimbouk Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 It is a techy procedure so its really difficult to explain in a non techy way. Basically Internet Connection Sharing only works with BT or USB by design. In order to use wifi, you need to 1) change the registry to force it to actually use the wifi card instead of the BT connection and 2) set your device's IP address - which is its networking address that it uses to talk to the mac/pc - to a fixed one that enables the two devices to work as a Local Area Network. It is a real pain to have to go through the procedure each time you want to do it- and to undo it each time you want to use your device for other things. Hopefuly someone is working on an application/cab that will change the settings making a one click change.
Guest rickyburke Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 There is a CAB somwhere that allows 2 instances of Internet Sharing to be installed on the device, one for BT/USB and one for Wifi. Cant remember where I saw it but i'd assume it was xda-developers.
