HTC TyTN II from Expansys O2

Hi forum

I wondered if you can help me...I want to buy an HTC TyTN II and the best deal I have found seems to be from Expansys on O2. I have a few questions about going down this route...

1. In the past i have always gone to the operators directly - will there be any disadvantage of buying a new contract phone from eXpansys - do my bills etc still come from O2 or do I pay Expansys every month?

2. At the end of the contract would I still be entitled to free upgrades (eg from the O2 shops) or would I be stuck with dealing with eXpansys for ever?

3. What is the O2 answerphone system like - I hate the Vodafone one ringing me every 5 minutes until I pick the VM up - it makes me want to go back to Orange with their littlle icon!

4. What is O2's web browsing speed like? I had heard that the iPhone went with O2 due to their rubbish internet browsing speeds - will this be a problem for me? (Is the fastest at the momment HSDPA still and does O2 have this facility?) Does O2 have a good data tariff?

5. Does O2 have a facility where I can have 2 phone numbers on one SIM? I have a business and a personal number and dont want to carry two devices... I have heard that Orange has a facility to swap between the two numbers for making outbound calls by pressing #, but the phone would ring and receive texts etc from either number regardless on which outbound number was active...

6. Finally and the most important, I have a very precious mobile number...I believe since I would be moving from Vodafone to O2 I can port this number, however can someone more enlightened confirm for me - it would be disastrous for me to lose my number! Is the process seamless?

Sorry foor the long post and also sorry if I have posted in the wrong place! Feel free to move me if necessary..

Thanks in advance,

TB

To the best of my knowledge no Windows Mobile Pocket PC is able to make use of the Orange Line2 facility.

I had no problem getting a PAC code from Orange and porting it to T-Mobile. You should be able to do the same between Vodafone and O2.

Hi forum

Ahoy! Just to let you know, I just left o2 for T-Mobile.

Not bad. It doesn't use the proper answerphone icon etc though.. It either phones you back every 5 minutes or it texts you to tell you you have a message. T-Mobile have the proper icon which is awesome.

4. What is O2's web browsing speed like? I had heard that the iPhone went with O2 due to their rubbish internet browsing speeds - will this be a problem for me? (Is the fastest at the momment HSDPA still and does O2 have this facility?) Does O2 have a good data tariff?

I never had a phone with better than GPRS on o2, but I know they have 3g. Not sure about HSPDA. What they do have is shocking data rates. Even with the new package, it's £7.50 a month for 200mb (not sure what restrictions there are on that). You can get 1gb for that price on T-Mobile, and they have very good HSPDA.

As said before, Windows Mobile doesn't support this, but I'm pretty sure the only operator that does is Orange.

As far as I know, all operators let you port your number for nothing nowadays.

Hi guys

Thanks for all the advice....T Mobile looks a possibility then...I just think the Kaiser is so ugly in their variation! Anyone know where I can get an HTC version with a T Mobile contract?

Thanks

No way! the T-mobile version is the best looking of the lot! I wouldn't really believe the pictures, it looks a lot better in real life.
