Guest Snooginsguy Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 Hey y'all, Just wondering if anyone had thoughts on how to keep the GPS chip active while the unit is in standby. It would be nice to be able to shut off the screen etc. and keep track of my location while hiking, or driving for a while on a long stretch of highway and not have the battery drain quite so much. As is right now, as soon as I hit the power button the GPS chip shuts down and no more data comes in. If I use an external GPS receiver (GlobalSat Bt-338) it will keep whatever program running that is tracking my movement, so I know that it is not the program dropping off but the chip for sure. Anything, a reg tweak, simple program, third party...? Thanks!
Guest pjam001 Posted October 27, 2007 Report Posted October 27, 2007 I use S2U2 (Slide to unlock 2) available from xda developers and have it assigned to a double press of the ok key. (Using AE Button Plus) This works great and both apps are free. ;)

I got 2.6 I think,and it is telling me to purchase/register.
