Guest Transform Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 I have had a Windows Smartphone (C500) for just over 2 years now, and its starting to slip behind with the times, plus the camera doesn't work anymore! Everyone seems to be moving towards the Pocket PC devices, however I would still like the phone to have keys on to allow me to text the old school way still. I was looking at the new HTC Touch Dual which has a nice slide down keypad. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there like me who has moved from Smartphone to Pocket PC such as the Touch Dual, and if so, what do you think of it? I have read a few reviews which look quite good, however it seems that it doesn't have wi-fi which is a bit disapointing. Is it worth getting one, or waiting for the realise of the next version which will have wi-fi? Thanks in advance for your comments.
Guest Monolithix Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 I think i am actually tending toward a Dual. It's terrible, i know. I'm tossing up how much i actually use wifi (not very much...), with how useful it is when i don't have decent phone signal (not very often...). Having said that the Tytn II is a really nice device... ;) As for switching from Smartphone to PPC, touchscreen makes everything 10 times easier (not that its that bad to start with). In particular web browsing is so much nicer on a PPC, hence the reason i'll probably stick with them!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 I know what you mean, my solution is to get a Dual 'for the missus'... ;) P
Guest Transform Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 i have looked at the Tytn II but don't like the idea of the full keyboard, which is why i was drawn towards the touch dual. is there anything coming out that is simular to the touch dual because it would be a shame for me to get it and then a few months later, a newer version comes out with wifi!
Guest Monolithix Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 There will always be a newer version on the horizon ;) No news on what that'll be yet though! I doubt we'll see anything this side of Xmas either...
Guest Transform Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 aww that kinda sucks! ;) can't wait for a phone that is the touch dual + wifi to come out!

I was just wondering a few things about it... How new is it? What is its size like compared to the Touch Dual? Does it have better features than the dual or lack any that the dual has? Will i look geeky with one of these?
Guest Monolithix Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 1: Very new (out end of Sept) 2: Not *much* larger in dimensions, but certainly "chunkier" 3: Better: 3mpix AF camera, GPS, Wifi 4: Yes ;)
Guest jimbouk Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 If you are used to one handed typing on a phone keypad (whilst driving for example... tsktsk) you will find the move to a PPC a little weird at first. My move to an M500 about three years ago probably saved my life as I was forever replying to emails etc whilst driving down the M1 on my old C500.
