Latest Excretion from AT&T re WM6 on the BJ (i607)

The level of unhappiness on the AT&T Forum for the BJ has reached unprecedented levels, with well over a hundred posts ripping them a new one on their long delayed WM6 upgrade :( , which, with the announcement of the BJII is striking most people as more AT & T vaporware intended to suck in BJ sales.

In this light, the following post by Parsonbri is very interesting:

"Last week I sent an email to the AT&T CEO voicing my displeasure and relaying some of the information or lack thereof posted in the previous WM6 thread.

Much to my suprise, I received a phone call from a representative of that office by the name of "BW" (see sentry, I can follow rules!).

Great give and take. I expressed my point that the prior thread would not have grown to a ridiculous 100+ pages had AT&T so much as threw us a kernel of official information. Any tidbit could have calmed everyone down. He was empathetic, but there is a limit to the information he could provide due to the current state of the update. While not able to give me specifics as to why the update has continually been pushed back, he was "authorized" (his words) to relay the following :

The current projected date for WM6 release was to be 10/26 (today) and was pushed back to 10/30 for both the Treo 750 and BJ. He stated that currently the 10/30 date looks good for the Treo 750, but the BJ date was "projected" to be pushed back "3 or 4" days. These dates are not written in stone and could obviously change a events progress.

The other thing I liked about the call was that he aknowledged AT&T could have done a better job of customer communication on this issue and was going see what he could do about getting policy change in the future so that at least they would communicate something.

I will say this. At least he listened and seemed understanding of our frustration. If you are going to beat up AT&T based on the way this was handled, you have to give them some credit for finally comprehending the magnitude of the issue and committing to do a better job of communicating. We will see, I hope it works.

Now, all this being said, I feel confident that it will be coming soon. If you now anything about the IT world, you know that as the delays get shorter in between projected dates, the release gets closer and closer to being final. I am hoping for next Friday or soon after. "

So, is there hope afterall? Or are we just being conned again?

YOU decide! ;)

Oh, I get it. My BUYING a BJ2 is ATT's idea of letting me "Upgrade my BJ to WM 6". ;)

How stupid of me to think that we were actually going to be given a firmware upgrade like the ALL rest of the US Smartphone users have.

After all, it's not like us Smartphone users deserve any consideration frm ATT, what with all the trouble we cause them, forcing them to go to the effort of preparing such large bills for our data plans, and hogging all their spectrum from 13-year olds sending texts at $12/month.

Bad, bad, silly little Smartphone Users!
