Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 It's been a long time a-coming, but Palm have FINALLY released a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for generic (non operator branded) Treo 750 devices! Available here at the Palm site, the upgrade is listed as offering the following benefits: Treo™ 750v / 750 Windows Mobile 6.0 Updater 2.18 / 2.23 What does this update do? This update provides: * Windows Mobile® 6 Professional * Update for Loss of System Sounds enhancement Enhancements * Improved Calendar management with enhanced User Interface * Enhanced E-mail messaging, HTML/Smart Filtering, SharePoint access and more * Voice command via Bluetooth * USB cable charging Worth having i'm sure you'll agree, not least for the USB cable charging that should have been in there from the start ;) It goes without saying that the upgrade will wipe your device, so BACK UP your data FIRST! :D It's interesting to note that this update is newer than the Windows Mobile 6 update that was originally made available to Vodafone customers, however there also seems to be an updated Vodafone version available... as long as you haven't updated already! The Palm site states: Treo 750-2.18-VFU If you have already updated your Treo 750v to Windows Mobile 6 (version 2.18) before 25/10/2007 a revised update will be available shortly from this website. The update above will not be possible on your device. Doh! A frustrating situation for Vodafone Treo 750v users potentially, especially given Palm's track record with 'shortly' :( P
Guest Monolithix Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 I still love the treo, it's a nice size (if a little too chunky) and the little tweaks palm made are really nice too. WM6 works well, although they have removed the fancy glass effects on the softkey bars! My only wish is that you can disable the horrible dialer bar at the top of the homescreen through a built in option!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 If you switch to the standard theme, i'm guessing the effects return? P
Guest Monolithix Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Never bothered me *that much*, so i never actually tried! Just another deferal from WM shininess on by default on a WM6 device *sigh*
