Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Tomorrow is, of course, Halloween. And courtesy of Microsoft's 'Windows Mobile Owners Circle', you can bring the spirit of the holiday to your Windows Mobile device ;) The 'WMOC' is offering 9 free wallpapers, and 9 free ringtones, some of which will probably be quite amusing around the office :( While you're over there, you can also pick up a FREE copy of 'Brain School' or a free copy of 'Photo Contacts 3.0'. Free registration is required. P

It's a trial product, that you have to purchase :-( I downloaded it from the Owners Circle last week and was very dissapointed to find this out! I assume that the Photo Contacts is too?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Wow, they don't make THAT clear do they! ;) Photo contacts and the other apps on this page definitely ARE free! P
Guest rameses Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Wow, they don't make THAT clear do they! :( Photo contacts and the other apps on this page definitely ARE free! P Photo Contacts says it's a promo that's fully functional for 90 days. Not exactly the same as free ;) or perhaps :D The URL on the newspage and the one in Paul's post seem to go to the same page.

I've been a member of the Owners Circle for a while (as I thought it might be of use, sadly not), and the only thing I have found that is actually "FREE" is the walpaper and ring tones. Frankly I can do that myself, and do a better job too!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Cheeky isn't the word, to tout that as 'FREE' is disgraceful! P
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Argh....was excited about BrainSchool more than the wallpaper and tones so headed there to grab a copy. Just downloaded and came here to say thanks for the heads up only to find it's a trial. Blah! I was duped! ;)
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Actually I dont see anywhere where it says it's free...just says GET IT NOW.
Guest FlangeArtist Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Actually I dont see anywhere where it says it's free...just says GET IT NOW. Your right. However, they don't say that it costs any money either!
Guest FlangeArtist Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Your right. However, they don't say that it costs any money either! Actually, check out the Page title "Free Mobile Game"!!! So, they ARE saying that it is FREE! Very cheecky and down right dishonest in my opinion!
Guest Alex (nedge2k) Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 False advertising! Someone get a screengrab...quick!!! ;) EDIT: In fact...
Guest FlangeArtist Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 False advertising! Someone get a screengrab...quick!!! ;) EDIT: In fact... So, what can we do about it? Any idea of how we can petition/complain en-mass?
Guest pd.ryder Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I've had several 'dealings' with this Windows Mobile Owners Circle. Have any of you noticed the small print includes "only available within the US..." for much of this content? I took this up with Microsoft directly: it took weeks for them to reply to my oroginal email, initially responding in typical Corporate 'I've not actually read your email...' fashion, but after hurling some abuse at them ;) they finally replied with a link to a UK based page. Guess what? It's empty!!! I can't post the link atm (I'm on nights at work) but I will once I get home in the morning. I must admit, I was rather abusive of the US stance on copyright. I compared their air of superiority to that of our European cousins (good 'ole Germans!) but did point out that even the Germans were able to sell us their decent cars and we didn't have to be German to be able to get the CD multichanger included!! It seemed to do the trick and hopefully raised a bit of a smile too :( :D
