Guest Andy_Bee_1 Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) I have just got myself the Orange TyTn ii device. It's nice and feature rich, but I am having an absolute ball-ache with it! The GPS didn't work, came here tried lots of things, got told hor to hard-reset the device, got GPS working-ish the GPStest works... But, CamerAware runs and then I get "Please reset your device" Soft-reset is no use at all, same message Hard-reset, reinstall CamerAware, and restart, same issue Trying to Install TomTom 6, get error message on device "Unable to install application. Please update your device to the required version before trying again" But there are no ROM's released?!? Also, the Orange bumf you get with it is shocking and slows everything down... So... Cut a long story short... 1. How do I flash to original ROM, or remove all Orange branded stuff and apps? 2. How do I run CamerAware? 3. How do i install TomTom 6? I'm almost ready to take it back the number of times I've had to wipe and start again! Which is a shame because it shows real promise... ;) Thanks in advance for any help Edited October 30, 2007 by Andy_Bee_1
Guest lozzd Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 That certainly doesn't sound very healthy! ;)
Guest Kimbie Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 To get rid of the Orange stuff, do a hard reset then soft reset it as you get "Apply custom settings in 3...2..1." but make sure you do it before it starts the customisations. From I remeber reading on here trying to flash the orange tytnii will lock the phone up Kimbie
Guest jimbouk Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 I have the Orange rom and havent had any problems installing tt or cameraware. (Copilot is a pig though)
Guest Helix Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 As above ^^ I have the Orange TyTn 2 and have had no major problems installing TomTom 6. Just a slight problem with the postcode directory but that was soon sorted with a quick googling. Dir was just in the wrong place.
Guest Andy_Bee_1 Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Well, it's going back to the shop anyway... They have failed to transfer my old number over, and according to 'New-Delhi' customer services they can't do it as they have no information on my old pay-as-you-go number (they even asked me which network it was with!) Err that'll be you Orange! Strangly enough I then called the English Pay-as-you-go customer services and they have all my information, name, DOB, address, and the fact I first bought and registered that phone number on 10th Oct 2000! The problem is, the shop never asked for it to be transferred, so I have to take it back, get a new contract number, and then ask them to mess up the same thing... No surprises really, they are absolutely useless! I'll report back after the weekend...
Guest lozzd Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) So switch to T-Mobile then. Had 0 problems here. Phone isn't full with crap and a slow ROM either. ;) Edited October 31, 2007 by lozzd
Guest hotphil Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 And aren't T-Mobiles data plans still vastly more competitive?
Guest Justinrog Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 Is that true that you can remove the Orange customisations by doing a hard reset then soft reset during customisation countdown? If this is done, what will remain on the device? Will I still have to install HTC Home? Basically, has anyone done this and can they describe what the device is like without the customisations? Will it resemble the default HTC ROM? Thanks for replying, J
Guest jimbouk Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 I would just let the o rom install, then disable the O homescreen and install the HTC home. Thats what I have done and my device is fine.

Unlike other Orange phones like the Universal where you could reset before customization and have a standard rom then just install the Orange Internet and mms settings the Kaiser has everything built into the rom including the home screen and dialer, in fact the customization installs very little. I'm not sure what diffrece there is between the orange rom and the standard rom all i know is once you disable the homescreen add some nice themes, get rid of the orange dialer and install Kaiser Tweaks the only sign of orange is the logo on the battery cover ;)

Guest Joss stick Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 Recently got hold of Tytn 11 from Orange - no problems to date except for irritation with the orange interface. I'm keen use the HTC Home, which looks more intuitive, but it doesn't appear to be an option in any of the settings that I can find. What do I need to do to use the HTC Home? Any advice gratefully accepted!
Guest tinyk Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) Aye tis me Mike. Two small problems just wondering if anyone can help with, heard of one before but cant seem to find it now. Restored from Sprite Backup and noticed two errors 1/ Whilst i just use profimail for day to day usage i also set up outlook for sending the odd file, after the restore outlook accounts never came back but when setting up new ones they errored saying account with that name already existed as if its there but you cant see it. i know this was covered some time ago on other models just wondering if anyone has a cure for WM6 they could help me with. 2/ after the restore i had duplicate shortcuts in the start bar before going in programs, this is normal in older models and all you used to do is deselect the duplicates like address book etc come out reset then go back in and select what you want and the duplicates would be gone but i now have two address books, 2 office mobiles and 2 organisers showing in settings / menu items i cant deselect the old one without an error 'cannot move that item' I could do with getting rid of them to add my normal apps, i've never had this problem before and its normally sorted quite easily, anyone have an idea? Thanks Edited November 1, 2007 by tinyk

Install it and then go back in to today settings and it will be there. 3) Find HTC Home Customiser if you really want to tweak it and make it look cool.
