how to set different alarm melody, and what files are supported?

hi, im running htc based rom and the alarms provided in the rom are not of a good quality or laudness.

i was trying to copy custom mp3 file into windows folder and then trying to change it but it is not in the drop down list.

any ides if it needs to be specific file format or i m doing sth wrong?

Alarm tones have to be in wave format, if you have a pc you can edit the wave files with something loke nero waveeditor and increase the volume if need be. Ive found the alarm levels quite loud when i use my own alarm tones. they go in the windows root  directory (windows folder) if you want to add move message tones they have to be wma files in the same directory
