Guest Kaiser Wilhelm II Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Anyone else experiencing disappointing performance with Opera Mobile 8.65? I installed in on my v1615 but I have to say I'm finding it a bit jumpy and jerky when loading web pages. It seems to 'pause' quite a bit - no response even to scroll bars for maybe 5 secs every 40-60 secs or so. Is this normal (I haven't been able to try it on another WM platform)? I expected that the superior memory capacity and decent processor of the Kaiser would do a pretty good job of running it. On the other hand I love Opera Mini. It's absolutely brilliant (and free!). This is the sort of surfing experience on mobile that I'm looking for. It has an incredible fluidity.
Guest jimbouk Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 I find 8.65 fine. It's quicker than PIE and it has tabbed support built in. The only problem with Opera is you cant click a few links and then pop over to msn or messaging for a bit and come back expecting the pages to have loaded... as Opera doesn't do ANYTHING when its in the background. I just dont like Mini.

Ive just installed it on my TYTN II and its working fine, it loads pages fast, scrolls fine, the screen grabing works fine. I still like netfront better for its use of backwards and forward browsing through pages using the directional key. but opera is nice enough if you dont mind having to use your stylus to go back a screen. with netfront its a one handed browser opera and pie dont do that. Guest Kaiser Wilhelm II Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 Hmmm, I'll have to try a reinstall because it definitely isn't a smooth experience for me at all.
Guest Phil Lee Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 Personally I'm a convert to Opera Mini over Opera Mobile. It is so fast and the zooming is a fantastic feature.
