Guest jimbouk Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Having seen elsewhere that it was available, I downloaded the new google maps (1.7.1.4) last night from www.google.co.uk/m on my device and it replaced my existing version and I then started it up. I hadn't used GPS all day so I guess its what we would call a cold boot... AND it connected and gave me a position fix within 20 seconds. Just tried it again and it found my location even quicker... and no dreaed time outs.!
Guest sc0user_75 Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 I did the same the other day. Only problem I found was that my location at times showed me to be 4 - 5 roads from where I actually was!! Is this a google maps thing? or is it my GPS receiver? Oh, and I had about 4/5 satelites found!
Guest jimbouk Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Mine is pretty much spot on. Without using quickgps or anything. I just checked both map and aerial views and they were within a couple of metres. Theres other new advantages to 1.7, including double click to zoom, turn by turn screens, animated call outs etc
Guest Webreaper Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 I take it they still haven't added the option to put the cache on the SD card?
Guest mandt Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Exactly what I was going to say! cache to main memory is so irritating ;)
