Are you upgrading yours?

I kinda feel like the beauty of the EEE PC is that it IS so cheap, so spending money on upgrading it seems a bit silly :( Are you upgrading yours tho?

I have a 1GB RAM stick kicking around (well, in the missus' laptop but she'll never know ;)) and also a 4GB SD, and that'll be my upgrades done initially. That miniPCI Express slot is just crying out for something though :D

I ordered a 1GB stick of mem with my EEE, for XP you can never have enough ;), and at 16 quid its hardly bank breaking. If I can get a tenner for the 512 currently in there and combine it with quidco, i come break even on it :(

Yus but then you are getting into silly money, more than 10% the value of the laptop ;p

I've also grabbed a 8GB SDHC, should be plenty for docs/pics/office and any other apps i might need regular access too. I'll be using the free space on my iPod for anything else ;)

I can't believe how cheap this thing is. I have to look up some detailed specs.

You want DDRII 667MHz. Personally i went for the 1GB Kingston flavour at £16.43 orso from www.shop.bt.com ;)

667MHz DDR2 SODIMM (laptop sized) is what u need.

e.g. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123910 (1GB)

or http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131133 (2GB)

P

crucial.com/uk slightly cheaper but you get free delivery and better RAM ;) Mind you I'm skeptical about the CAS5 stuff on crucial.

Yeah but 1gb for XP is plenty for most and besides any more than that and you'd have to start fiddling with the virtual ram else it'll eat away at that tiny 4gb of storage.
