Installing Skype Beta with video

To install the new Skype Beta with video on the Eee PC...

1. Drop to a terminal by pressing Ctrl-Alt-T

2. Type 'wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-xandros'

This will download a .deb file to your home directory

3. Type 'sudo dpkg -u nameofthisfile.deb'

This will install the new version. Reboot!

Before using skype, you need to wake up the webcam each time. To do this...

1. Drop to a terminal, and type: 'sudo echo 1 > /proc/acpi/asus/camera'

Its been a while since I've used Linux but from what I recall you can probably skip the wake up step by creating a script to use for your shortcut to skype.
