Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 At least this is how I do it :-D 1. Run a terminal by pressing Ctrl-Alt-T 2. Type 'sudo apt-get update' to update the packge list 2. Type 'sudo apt-get upgrade' to ugprade to latest versions Works a treat, and there seem to be pretty frequent updates! You could also run 'sudo synaptic' from the terminal window to get a GUI version... P
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 2. Type 'sudo apt-get upgrade' to ugprade to latest versions Please don't do that on ubuntu unless you know exactly what you're doing ;) Doesn't Xandros have an update manager/daemon ? Something like adept_notifier/adept-updater
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Why would doing that on Ubunto cause a problem? It's effectively just the same as updating available packages in Synaptic? apt-get dist-upgrade is a different matter of course :( There is a GUI updater, but I like to do it the dirrrrty way ;) P
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 apt-get dist-upgrade is a different matter of course :( Ahhh I take it back.. That's what I thought you wrote initially ;) (Goes to put specs on)
