Switching from TomTom One Europe to Navigator 6 on V1615

I currently have a TomTom One Europe satnav unit and also a Vodafone v1615 (Kaiser) running the taster edition of TomTom Navigator 6. Does anyone know:

- Can you run two devices from one TomTom account?

- Are the map files and POI files used by the TomTom One are compatible with the V1615?

- Can I re-authorize the maps to the V1615 to avoid buying them again?

Also, does anyone know what the deal is with selling a TomTom device secondhand, specifically how does the next owner go about authorizing the device if it is already registed to me? Will this be a problem?

Thanks in advance.

I dont' think you can do this within the T&Cs of your TomTom licence. You may be better asking TomTom customer support directly. There are other ways of achieving this, but I am not going to post details on here.

I'm not sure if this applies to TomTom6, as I've not tried it, but in TTN5, the maps on the TomTom Go series were the same as those on the PDA versions, though the actual operating software was different.

Your TomTom license is linked to the map, and allows one further activation after the initial one. If you have your Map product code, you can go to www.ttcode.com, UK Activation, and enter your product code. This will show you your current device code, and may allow you to enter a new device code, for which to obtain a new activation code. You've got nothing to lose by trying! Copy the TomTom One map (complete folder structure) to your Kaiser's SD card; Start TomTom and if necessary go to settings/manage maps and switch to the new map. You will then get the Activation Wizard starting- choose 'Manual' which will give you the Device Code to enter into the above field at ttcode.com.

TomTom Home's account system cannot deal with 2 registered devices - if you want to do this, you would need to register the 2nd device under a different email address.

You can pass on a TomTom One stand alone device to a new buyer, as long as you pass on all the software, and don't try to activate the maps on any other device. I suspect the new buyer won't be able to register with TomTom, as you remian the registered 'owner'. Ni'm not sure if you can disassociate a product from your TomTom Home account.

Many thanks for the replies. I had a look at the ttcode site and as you rightly point out I need the Product Code to start the process. I belive you can normally see this by double clicking the map in TomTom home (on the PC) and it should be displayed in the properties of the map. Interestingly, the Western Europe map that comes with the Tomtom One Europe doesn't have a product code though, maybe because it was preinstalled on the device's internal memory.

In general it seems harsh that I have purchased the device and can now neither resell it or transfer the maps to another device. I run a software company and am pretty sure that selling propreitary software that cannot be used on another device when I am the legal lic owner is iffy. Hmmm, time for a call to Tomtom support I think!

Even with TomTom Go devices you should have a product code. This is generally a credit card sized insert in the packaging- my TomTom Go 510 had this, as did my TTN6 full retail pack.
