Guest Rickardo Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 Hi ;) I really hope someone can help me as I have been trawling these forums and at Expansys as well. I have a Vodafone V1415 incarnation of the S710. I bought the W100 wired remote (with 3.5mm jack) which came with cd of drivers and I get the usual "your phone already has the latest drivers..." as disucssed on other forums. I then followed the advice from another forum of manually installing the .cab file, but there are several. I picked one which then knocked out all the audio and I had to do a hard reset - does anyone know which one to choose? I'm really loathed to try weach driver and have to hard reset each time. I contacted HTC support, who responded slightly strangely since it is not a bluetooth headset (the supplied headset works fine): Thank you for contacting HTC Europe but unfortunately you might find > incompatibility issues when using the W100 with none original HTC > products. > The V1415 is an exclusive mobile phone from Vodafone. It has a unique > operating system and a licence from Vodafone. > > For this reason we don't know if there's any changes in the Bluetooth > mobile registry as we don't sell or support them. > We might suggest to backup your data and master reset the device and try > again but we can assure that the HTC S710 works with the W100 via Bluetooth. Many thanks, Alec.
Guest Dicketh Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 I'm having the same problem trying to connect the W 100 to an Orange SPV E650 (HTC S710). You cannot download any updated drivers (all say 'page not available' - including Expansys) and transferring the two Cab. files on the disk (called Data 1 and Data 2) doesn't work. You say there were several Cab files. How do you find them, and where do you transfer them to? Expansys support are suppposed to be getting back to me on this. I'll let you know if they say anything helpful
Guest Rickardo Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 "You cannot download any updated drivers (all say 'page not available' - including Expansys)"On htc website, you have to register for their my eclub thing. "You say there were several Cab files. How do you find them, and where do you transfer them to?"Connect phone with ActiveSync and run driver wizard on cd but DON'T ACTION IT, LEAVE IT HANGING when the diakogue box states you akready have them installed/up to date. Then go to c:/programme files/ActiveSync (something along those lines) and you should see a folder called htc and in there is the .cab files. I just don't know which one, if any, works.I emailled Expansys as well but haven't heard back - hope you do and post here.
Guest Dicketh Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks for that I've tried them all in different combinations - and so far, none work. Here are results: INSTALLATION (one after another) A1 – does nothing except disable the speaker system? So now WMP doesn’t play through the speaker (with or without the remote control attached). Phone jammed in Flight mode A2 Device no longer reading the storage card files (still in flight mode) (so I reloaded it…) A3 Nothing happens A4 :says that it replaces A2 ‘a previous version’. So I did this (replacing A2, and same result as A1 Then installed H. (nothing) Tried T1 (not for my device) REMOVAL Removed A1 – restarted – Nothing Removed all (and restarted at the end) ….in fact, installing these means phone stays in flight mode and cannot be switched on – performing reset! AFTER RESET Tried T1 – not compatible with device Installed A2 – same as before: WMP files deleted and Flight mode forced on – phone and speaker no longer work. AFTER 2nd RESET Installed A3 – same again – puts into flight mode and stops phone finding storage card contents AFTER 3rd RESET Installed A4 – same again!!! Still nothing from Expansys! And I've emailed HTC also (and told them not to go on about bluetooth)! Just trying 'H' now...
Guest Dicketh Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 No - 'H' doesn't do anything. So then I loaded A4 and onve again, the phone's jammed in Flight mode. Basically, the W100 remote control doesn't work with my phone. I recommend you send it back. I'm going to! Good luck
Guest Rickardo Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks for trying, Dicketh :( . I can't believe there is no way that it can work since the original headset does - is there anyway anyone with a bit more clout (i.e. Paul!) get onto HTC/Expansys? Does anyone know of an alternative 3.5mm adapter? I don't need a remote - I just want to use my own, half-decent headphones. I see there is another official HTC one and various others on Expansys, but before I waste more oney on postage, I want to know they work on my v1415 - is this too much to ask in this day and age? Although I do like the functions of this phone, I've started to use my old Nokia N91 for longer journeys, purely for the music (plus it's 3G!). Regards, Alec ;)

Guest Rickardo Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 But will the same issue with audio drivers still be a problem?
