Homescreen: Eliminate carrier and make date/time part of Profile?

I already know my carrier (duh) and I never use Bluetooth, so I want to eliminate the selectable carrier bar that brings me to the Bluetooth/Phone selector. Instead, I wish to move Date/Time into the Profile bar. I tried moving the Clock section into the Profile bar, but it ignored it. How can I make this work?
