Guest petec500 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 I have a Touch on Orange PAYG and i'm considering buying one of their bundles - probably the basic £4/4MB to cover my occasional usage of GPRS. However, despite Orange's claims that this amounts to about 400 web-pages, which sounds a lot, i've noticed that whereas WAP type pages are typically less than 10k per page, if you stray into normal web-pages, it can be more like 400k per page. Using my basic knowledge of maths, you dont get many 400k web-pages in 4MB! So, to keep track on things and ensure i dont get hit with massive charges for going over the limit, i'm looking for a decent GPRS data monitor so i can see how much data i'm using. As i use the Wi-Fi connection at home to browse or download email etc. quite often, i'd hope that the software could distinguish between GPRS data and Wi-Fi data. So, what's out there that'll serve my purpose please?
Guest Neil5459 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Have you looked on the CD ROM that came with the Touch? Most verions have SpB GPRS Monitor included on the CD, though I'm not certain about the Orange version.
Guest petec500 Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 Nope - not on the CD i got with the Touch from Orange sadly. It's a $20 download too - not a lot when you consider the current exchange rate, but still i'd prefer something cheaper, i.e. free!
Guest nevawlkalone Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 will spb monitor the amount of data that i use? Want to monitor any difference between killing the connection after use (what i do now) and leaving it on permanently! Cheers, M
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 I'm using something called battery status today plugin - its awesome as it also tracks call / data usage by day and month.
