Run .exe files?

OK, this may be a dumb question but .....

My order from expansys fell through, so I just bought one from ebay. Assumeing that all goes well ....

Can I run .exe files on the default OS? I'm not talking about installing ful blown windows apps but I have a few utilities that I use on a regular basis and I'm wondeing if they'll work? Is it wine or something that allows you to run windows apps on Linux? Is this included?

I'm using WINE to run palringo... some stuff will work, some won't.

WINE isn't on there by default, but it's easily added!
