What have you done to your Eee / plan to do to your Eee / would like to do to your Eee?

Here's mine ;)

Done!

- Stuck with Xandros in Easy mode!

- Ran apt-get remove SCIM to remove the international keyboard icon in tray

- Removed unionFS, so now I have one 4GB partition, and removing apps actually frees space!

- Added xandros repositories

- Did an apt-get update to get the latest bits

- Temporarily added debian repositories to install WINE

- Installed Palringo

- Removed AV

- Removed Voice Command

- Installed Firefox extensions, including Google Browser Sync

- Installed Skype Beta with webcam support

Plan to do!

- Customise 'Easy Mode'

- Upgrade RAM

- Remove unwanted software

- Try Vista!

- Try Ubuntu Gutsy with shipped Kernel

- Get latest Firefox versions

- Try installing Novell Evolution

- Get webcam working with uStream.tv if possible

Would like to do!

- Get a white one and swap selected bits over to get unique ones!

- Find one with a miniPCIE slot, and try a HSDPA modem in there

Hi, I dont have a Eee PC yet but i sure hope and planning to. So you must be guessing why the hold up then? well the only thing thats holding me back is the screen size (or the resolution) and perhaps the storage. Only if a little bigger. Having said that i think i will work fine with it, coz i know how to tweak to make it look better. So.. these are the following things i plan on doing:

Plan to do!

- Install Vista! why? coz nowadays xp is boring and no more challenging, well thats my opinion.

- Tweak it. vLite it. Set for best performance. Take indexing away. Disable quick launch for longer taskbar, or perhaps hide taskbar and use Rocket Dock. Install usual apps that i commonly use. OpenOffice, Portable MSN, My own portable power archiver, Firefox, Mirc. Photoshop CS3 Lite, WinAMP, and perhaps uTorrent.

- Store everything else via my memory card or my 2.5" hdd.

- Try Gentoo Linux

Ive pre-installed this already to test out and seem to come to total of 5.95gb used up in total. And thats with few other apps too.

Well i'll be still waiting (maybe) for a better Eee PC model to pop up. I know now there already selling a 8gb SSD with 1GB Ram version already at http://uk.dynamism.com/ and on ebay. eBay theres someone selling for £255 including P&P. BuyItNow too. Ah bugger, decisions.. decisions.. decisions. Oh well.

i've:

- unlocked full desktop. (was fun, while it lasted)

- added vlc

- added 2gb ram (but will only recognize 1gb, cuz i'm too lazy to recompile the kernel)

- currently installing xp (cuz i need active synce for my pda phone + it will take advantage of the 2gb of ram)

Yeah, sync / tethering seems to be the killer for Linux... (Xandros default distro in particular!)
