Guest jasco Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 I have been able to change the timeout for all the keys in the registry. however i cannot find were to change the disply timeout once it dims. the first is a 10 sec delay, then it dims and stays dim for 30 seconds before going off ! what a waste of battery which isnt very good to start with. the 10 sec delay is okay but then i want it to fully go off after 10 secs. can anyone help?
Guest jasco Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 I posted this topic earlier, but with no replies i kept looking and found it. note... this will make the screen turn off completely not dim. to change 30 sec display timeout look under: HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\POWER\TIMEOUTS BattUserIdle (30) 30 seconds by default... change the value to what you like, i did 15 seconds. maybe this will help the battery a little.
Guest MetalSlug Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 That seems to make my screen never turn off. Maybe more than one thing needs to be changed for it to work?
Guest jasco Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 That seems to make my screen never turn off. Maybe more than one thing needs to be changed for it to work? Thats odd, i have not had that problem.. in power management i have back light timeout set to 10secs, and then display timeout at 30secs since thats the lowest it can go. then i went into the registry and entered 15 secs (two digit value) soft reset . my screen dims at 10 seconds and locks automatic, then 5 secs later off .. one thing to note any changes in power management followed by hitting the DONE key will overide your Battuseridle value back to whatever you had set leaving you rite were you started. i always hit cancel if im in that menu or repeat the process if i change anything. maybe someone else will find better way, but i havent seen anything on fourm's about this issue. i have noticed my battery life is better since this change, just not sure why it didn't work for you.
Guest MetalSlug Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Hard Reset my phone last night so I decided to try this again and it did work for me the second time. Thanks
Guest smfa1965 Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 I actually change mine a different way. \HKCU\ControlPanel\Power. In there I create a new DWORD called Display and enter in 20 for 20 seconds timeout. My screen dims at 15 seconds and then turns off at 20. The only thing is if you mistakenly go into Power Management and change and save any settings, it reverts back to whatever is in the menu.
