AT&T Tilt power and adapter and unlock network

Just got a AT&T Tilt from ebay and hoping someone can help me with a couple of questions

1. I used the HardSPL and RUU Kaiser rom from xda-developers to flash the rom. Thought it would be unlocked so I could use my lovely new 3 sim only card, but its telling me the sim is locked. Can you point me in a direction to sort this out please?

2. Don't understand electricity either. And I'm wondering if I can use the american charging lead in a uk power socket without frying the little rascal

Any help appreciated

if its saying the sim itself is locked and wants a PIN, then either use the one you set it to on a previous phone or itll be in the little book thing that came with the SIM. if its saying the sim is locked and wants a PUK you need to phone 3

if its saying that the sim is invalid or doesnt want a PIN or a PUK then its likely that the unlock didnt go as planned. try soft reset, then a hard reset, and if neither work try the unlock again

and on the point of electricity:

Americas electrickitee supply runs at 110V, whereas in the UK we use 230V. Look at the charger and if its input does not include 230V in the range (it'll probably say either 100-150V or 100-240V) don't use it. If 230V falls into the range its fine to use that charger with a UK>US plug adapter.

If the input voltage range does not include 230V FGS don't use the charger in the UK. If you're still unsure then a UK-specific one will probably only cost you a few quid on ebay. If the charger isnt designed for the higher voltage level, then too much power will find its way to the 5V input on the phone, which would most likely promptly go about destroying the charging mechanism

Another way to put it:

There's SIM unlock and CID unlock:

SIM unlock will allow you to use the phone on any GSM network with any SIM card.

CID unlock allows you to flash the phone with any ROM image. That is what you did with HardSPL. This will not SIM unlock the phone.

Thanks for your very detailed and informative replies.

When the pone is turned on with a 3 network sim card inserted, it comes up with a screen titled 'Sim lock'. The message is 'Network is locked. Please input your unlock code'. Guess I have to get it sim unlocked. I tried one offer on ebay, but they came back 24 hours later and refunded my money saying the IMEI which I gave could not be unlocked. I noticed that the IMEI on the AT&T box was different from the phone - had 2 digits less. 15 digits total. The IMEI accessed through the phones settings/device infomation has 17

The voltage range is 100-240v so I guess it will be ok to use

your charger will be fine then

the IMEI difference doesn't matter: the actual IMEI number is the 15 digit one, the last 2 digits on the phone are reference digit which esetnailly tell HTC that its an AT&T when you download firmware updates

have a look on www.xda-developers.com in the kaiser forums to find a fre SIM unlock program. i think theres one floating around

There is no SIM unlock (yet) that is free. There is one guy who is offering a pay service though.

Currently I think the only options are IMEIcheck or the guy on xda.

I got my ATT Tilt from Ebay. I tried 2 offers of unlock on Ebay but both refunded my dosh. Persuaded nice lady at ATT internationational to give me one and she said for my IMEI it had to come from HTC. Should be here by email in the next week :|
