Guest synergie7 Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Hi, Does anyone know why ZoneAlarm treats ActiveSyncing to the SPV like acessing the Internet. As a general policy I don't let applications on the PC have access to the Internet unless absolutely necessary, hence I denied ActiveSync access to the Internet, as I didn't want it sending any of my personal info to Orange or Microsoft . But I've found that I need to enable access to an untrusted zone inorder for it to work, and when using ActiveSync, ZoneAlarm sees the traffic in its little bar graphs. I've had a look with ipconfig, but there don't appear to be any new (virtual) ethernet adaptors present. So I would be interested if anyone has an explanation or a way to setup zone alarm to allow ActiveSync access to the SPV but not to the Internet. Cheers Roger
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 The remote tools at least can be set up to use a tcp/ip tunnel to communicate with the SPV. Its possible that ActiveSync works in a similar way, also you will need to allow it access if you are wanting to use a Pass Through connection instead of GPRS when the SPV is docked.
