Which variant to get??

Hi folks, looking into getting an SPV e650 but a bit fed up with Orange and their price plans, not to mention their horrible rebranding.

Sadly, the other 2 networks I would consider, 3 and T-Mob, don't do the HTC S710, so my alternatives are to buy an ebay one and then sell whatever phone I get for free on ebay to recoup the money, or get a V1415 on Vodafone business.

Given I'm not keen on the second option even though I would love a vanilla S710, what's the best bet?

1) stick with Orange and try to debrand the phone with the various utilities on here

2) go with the Voda one (but are they any good these days, and have Voda played silly buggers with the phone like Orange have).

Also, is there anything on the horizon that looks better? (Wifi, keyboard, not to big, etc.)

E650 is fine and with the various apps on here de branding isn't an issue

Had my E650 now 6 months and I'm very pleased.

Yes, that's looking to be the best bet...

Just seen the S730 - don't think it looks bad and love the 3G but disappointed by the lack of GPS and wondering how long it will take Orange to fill it full of bugs and release it... ;)

Hmmm... Who forces you guys to buy phones from the cellular provider? I would NEVER do.

Me neither. I hate these clogged up and simlocked devices. I allways go to independent retailer. As of now I got a TyTN with T-mobile. And not the usual MDA crap.

its a British thing i think... in 99% of cases, the phone is free on a 12 or 18 month contract. so overall, a £25 a month tariff with a stack of minutes and texts (with a added amount for data) the total cost of ownership would be £300 a year across the year. as opposed to £270 for the toy and then some form of Pay As You Go or a SIM only contract costing way more than £30 a year.....
